Many assume that I make dolls as a release because I have three boys. The impetus actually came during a period of transition in my career. Making these dolls gave me peace and inner strength during difficult times. I hope these dolls bring you the same peace and strength and more.

Presenting these dolls on this website has been an enjoyable collaboration with my friends. I would like to acknowledge and thank those that helped in this endeavor. Jeanne Aberktson, a dear friend and cello student, is the graphic artist for the website. Samira Hakki, another friend and the mother of a former violin student, has offered excellent guidance and is the website engineer. Both handled the delicate balance between their expertise and accommodating my vision marvelously. It has truly been an enjoyable collaboration and I look forward to working together again on future projects. I hope SAS dolls create joy and harmony for you as well.

I would like to thank my best friend and husband David Gorelick for his endless love and support. His company makes my journey of life blissful. In addition, he took the pictures for the website.

Lastly, but certainly not least, I would like to thank my three sons, Jason, Alex and Daniel for their inspiration. Through their eyes I realize that boys can be just as sensitive and we need to respect the beauty of each sex. Yes, they may have rolled their eyes watching me create and in-effect “play” with these dolls, but in their own way they were supportive and proud that I was creating something of beauty.

With all these good things that went into making them: peace, joy, love, and friendship, may these dolls bring you all those. Good things stay with you forever.

Peace

See how Susan makes the dolls.
